Automate FB Login with iMacros
Automate FB Login with iMacros

iMacros is great at doing a lot of things. One of the things that it is really great for is to automate trivial tasks so that you can focus on the other important things.

In this tutorial, we will be looking at how you can automate logging on to Facebook using iMacros. This is a step-by-step tutorial. So, let’s get started.

Step 1 – Open up iMacros

Well, this step is quite obvious. But, just for the sake of completeness, if you haven’t already opened up the iMacros panel, you can do that by clicking the iMacros icon on the top as shown in the video. The other way to open your iMacros panel is to press the f8 key on your keyboard.

Step 2 – Start Recording

The very first thing that we would mostly do with iMacros is record. So, click on the “Rec” tab followed by clicking on the “Record” button. This will activate the recording mode.

As you can see from the video, the display has changed and the word “Recording” is shown on the Display. This let’s us know that we are in the recording mode.

The recording will not record every movement of your mouse or the time taken between each action. The only thing that will be recorded are the events and the inputs.

Step 3 – Go to

Since we have to automate the login to Facebook, we got to their website by inputting it in the address bar. Once you input the URL and press enter, you will notice that the code displayed on the screen appends a line which reads:

This line indicates that the current page will navigate to another URL, in this case

Step 4 – Type your email address/phone number

Click on the Email address or phone number field and enter your details.

You might be able to see on the iMacros panel that a new entry has been made. This means that the entry for taking the email address has started.

Step 5 – Type your password

Go to the next field and input your password. The moment you start typing your password, you will see 2 lines of code being added.

We won’t worry about the code right now because we are focused on automating the entire process.

Step 6 – Click on Login

Any time you perform an action, an entry is added to the code. So, the entry for clicking the log buttons is added to the code.

Step 7 – Stop Recording

Click on the “Stop” button to finish recording the entire macro. That’s all!

Now, you have recorded the entire process for Facebook login. Next time, you can simply open the “Play” tab and then click on “Play” after selecting the “#Current.iim” file. You can obviously rename the macro to something else to save it for future use.

Editing the Macro (Optional)

Since iMacros are designed to be flexible and not rigid, you can always change the username and password to automate it for some other user.

To edit a macro, simply right-click the macro and click on “Edit Macro”. This will open up a new window where you can see the entire code required for automating FB login.

Simply find your email address and replace it with the new email address. The same can be done for password as well. Once you have made the changes, click on “Save & Close”. This will save the macro. You can now run the edited macro to give you the new entries.

Your Turn

Creating a log in macro is really simple and it takes just 1 minute to create. You can then put the log in on automation and save a lot of time in your life :-p
